{A Note About Vinyl}
Vinyl offers a sleek, contemporary finish and is wonderfully easy to keep clean. It lends each vest a crisp look that's both eye-catching and practical. That said, this specialty material has a few natural quirks that come with working closely and creatively with it. I always take extra care during the sewing process, but here are some things to be aware of:

🔸 Matte vs. Glitter Vinyl
Matte vinyl is softer and slightly more delicate than glitter vinyl, which means it's more prone to certain imperfections. Both styles are beautiful, but matte may carry a bit more character in the final product.

🔸 Textured Stitching
Dense or heavily stitched designs may create visible ripples across the vinyl surface. This textured look is a natural result of how the material responds to pressure, and while it's not always smooth, it’s part of vinyl’s charm.

🔸 Reflective Add-Ons
Adding reflective material near the top or bottom edges of vinyl pockets isn’t recommended. The combined thickness can be tricky to sew precisely, which may lead to stitching limitations or large edge blemishes. These are rare but characteristic of layering vinyl with other specialty materials.

🔸 Tiny Edge Imperfections
Vinyl vests/capes/harness' may feature minor nicks to the top surface of the material, especially near top edges of the pockets. Open pocket vests are at a higher risk at the top edges of the pockets due to the drastic thickness change.  Zippers on the vests that have them help modulate the thickness a bit more gently.  If any vest shows major wear during production, it is remade 100% before shipping. Small nicks under 0.2" are considered cosmetic and don’t affect the vest’s durability. They’re part of what makes each handmade item uniquely yours.
